After months of speculation, it’s finally official: Remco Evenepoel will race with Red Bull – BORA hansgrohe. The Belgian rider ends his contract with Soudal Quick-Step early — originally set to expire in 2026 — to join the German team at the start of next season.

Remco grew up with Soudal, turning professional in 2019 after his incredible success in the junior ranks. It was with the Belgian team that he won a road World Championship, time trial World Championships, Olympic gold medals (both road race and time trial), a Vuelta a España, and many other races, including two editions of Liège–Bastogne–Liège. With Soudal, he also experienced some of the toughest moments of his career — like the crash at Il Lombardia — and it was the Belgian team that stood by him and supported him through those difficult times.

The transfer was announced by Soudal Quick-Step in this statement:

“Remco’s representatives informed the team management that the rider had no intention of discussing an extension of his current contract, which runs until the end of 2026. After consulting with our sponsors and partners, the team ownership and management decided that it is in everyone’s best interest to agree that Remco can transfer at the end of the current 2025 season.

The team has undergone many transformations and changes, continuing to evolve into one of the most successful squads in professional cycling history. While we regret Remco’s decision to leave the team, we will cherish the memories we’ve built together and remain committed to achieving meaningful results for the remainder of the season.

We firmly believe in the team spirit that earned us the Wolfpack name and will continue to strive to be a collective stronger than any individual. We would like to express our gratitude to the sponsors and partners who supported us throughout this process and will continue to do so in the future.”

Red Bull – BORA hansgrohe’s welcome message was more concise:

“The arrival of Remco Evenepoel represents more than just a milestone for Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe: it’s a clear signal. With renewed confidence and bold ambition, the team is charting its path to become one of the most exciting forces in international cycling in the years to come.”

Team principal Ralph Denk further emphasized the magnitude of this signing:

“Remco stands for ambition. He doesn’t just want to race — he wants to shape the sport. He’s not only an exceptional athletic talent, but also possesses an extraordinary mindset. His determination, professionalism, and relentless drive for success are truly inspiring.”
