Breaking news: Vuelta even more distorted, time trial shortened
New drastic change in the Vuelta a España route, everything changes in terms of the general classification
Huge twist at the Vuelta a España: the 27.7 km time trial scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday) has been shortened to “ensure greater protection.”
What was a huge chance for Almeida to make up ground on Vingegaard has now turned into a mini time trial of just 12.2 kilometers — a distance more suited to a prologue than a classic Grand Tour time trial.
This is the third time a stage has been altered due to protesters: first the Bilbao stage, then Tuesday’s summit finish, and now tomorrow’s time trial. It remains to be seen what will happen on Friday and Saturday given the increasingly frequent disruptions, but one thing is certain — the Vuelta has already been distorted after all these changes.
