In the major chaos surrounding Israel–Premier Tech, with both sponsors set to leave the team, the team has just announced which riders will depart next season, surprising almost everyone.
The list of riders leaving does not only include names like Matthew Riccitello and Michael Woods—whose transfer and retirement were already known—but also Chris Froome. The Briton theoretically had another year left on his contract, although nothing more has been heard about him since his heavy crash in August. It remains to be seen whether the five-time Tour de France winner’s career will end this way—as unfortunately seems quite likely—or if there will be another chapter.
The situation regarding Derek Gee is also worth noting: he was not mentioned among those departing, despite the Canadian having announced a contract termination that the team never confirmed. Meanwhile, the team’s social channels will go dark starting tomorrow, and the website is already offline.
