Covi leaves UAE for Jayco, a Lidl-Trek rider renews, Dunbar joins Q36.5, De Bondt finds a team, and Soudal…

No bombshells yet from this year’s transfer market, apart from the much-discussed move of Remco Evenepoel to Red Bull Bora-hansgrohe, but in recent days several interesting deals have been announced.

The biggest news of the day is Alessandro Covi’s transfer from UAE Team Emirates to Jayco-AlUla. The 26-year-old further strengthens the Italian contingent of the Australian squad, which only a few days ago had also announced the signing of Filippo Conca.

Also joining Jayco is Dries De Bondt. The Belgian leaves Decathlon, where a contract renewal had already seemed unlikely during the Giro d’Italia, when he revealed he was seeking a new deal (and that he had worked for Carapaz for that reason). He signs a two-year contract running until 2027.

At Lidl-Trek, after Mathias Vacek, Otto Vergaerde has also renewed his deal. He will remain with the team for at least six seasons and continue to be a key domestique for team leader Mattias Skjelmose.

Eddie Dunbar, on the other hand, leaves Jayco-AlUla to join Q36.5 alongside Pidcock, signing a contract through 2027, the year he turns 31. He will likely be a crucial addition for the Grand Tours, where he has always performed well, and where he could support Pidcock as leader—and perhaps more.

Meanwhile, Soudal Quick-Step continues to bolster its ranks, reaching six new signings. After Alberto Dainese, Edward Planckaert, Jasper Stuyven, and Dylan van Baarle, the team has now added Steff Cras (formerly of TotalEnergies) and Fabio Van den Bossche (formerly of Alpecin-Deceuninck). Both have signed until 2027.
