Here we go — in less than 24 hours we’ll once again witness the magical trio of Grand Tour champions face off: Remco Evenepoel, Tadej Pogacar, and Jonas Vingegaard. It will be the first time we see all three racing head-to-head in their national team jerseys, and given the course, everything points toward a spectacular showdown.

They — along with the rest of the peloton — will tackle a 202.5-kilometer route featuring an initial 40 kilometers, followed by three laps of a long 35.1-kilometer circuit and three laps of a shorter 17-kilometer one. The long circuit includes the climb of Saint Romain de Lerps (6.7 km at 7.4%, max 13.5%) and, most notably, the brutally steep Val d’Enfer (1.3 km at 11.3%, max 14.5%). This latter ramp also appears in the shorter circuit, which includes about 12 kilometers of flat roads and roughly 3 kilometers of descent.

The Val d’Enfer climb will be tackled for the final time around 6 kilometers from the finish — likely the decisive point of the race if no one manages to break away earlier.

Among the favorites, it’s impossible not to mention Pogacar, Evenepoel, and Vingegaard. However, keep an eye on other top-level riders on the start list such as Van Gils, Skjelmose, Seixas, Grégoire, Sivakov, Scaroni, Christen, Hirschi, Almeida, Ayuso, Nych, and Skujiņš. They are all well-suited to this type of course, and some of them (though not all) delivered strong performances at last week’s World Championships.

The race is scheduled to start at 11:45 a.m., with the finish expected around 5:00 p.m.
