Today, Saturday, October 4, one of the most beautiful Italian classics of the entire season will take place: the Giro dell’Emilia. Unfortunately, its overlap with the European Championships will lead to the absence of many champions who could have been at the start, such as Pogacar, Ayuso, Evenepoel, and others. Despite this, the start list still includes top climbers like Del Toro, Martinez, Bernal, Carapaz, Pellizzari, Roglic, and more.

The route follows the traditional format: 199 kilometers featuring the San Luca climb — 2.1 km at an average gradient of 9.4% — to be tackled five times, with the final ascent deciding the race. The start is scheduled for 10:25 AM, and the finish is expected around 3:00 PM.

The favorites are the previously mentioned top climbers. Unfortunately, Ciccone, who was initially expected to take part, will not be present; it remains to be seen whether he will recover in time for Il Lombardia. Keep an eye on Andrea Bagioli, as well as Tom Pidcock and Mikel Landa.
