Vingegaard at the Giro d’Italia? “I already said at the Vuelta that…”
The Dane spoke about the possibility of being at the start of the Italian Grand Tour next May
After the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España, Jonas Vingegaard is missing just one Grand Tour to complete the Triple Crown: the Giro d’Italia. For this reason, ever since his victory in the Spanish Grand Tour, there has been growing talk about his possible participation in the Giro — which would mark his debut in the race.
However, the situation is not so simple. Jonas and Visma | Lease a Bike have always focused all their efforts on the Tour de France — the most important Grand Tour for countless reasons, especially economic ones. For this reason, the Dane has been cautious in recent days, speaking to Feltet and clarifying that his participation would also depend on the team’s decision:
“Giro d’Italia? I already said at the Vuelta that I would like to do it, but it’s not just up to me — it also depends on the team. Of course, I have my own wishes, but we also have to consider, as a team, what our goals will be for next season.
I also think that the Tour will remain my main objective — and it will probably be so every year, as long as I’m riding and able to compete for the win. So we’ll see what happens.”
