Mattia Agostinacchio

In yesterday’s Cyclocross World Cup, there was one rider in particular who once again amazed everyone: Mattia Agostinacchio. The 18-year-old from EF, in his first season as a professional after winning the Junior World Championship, started from the fifth row and managed to fight his way up to 13th place.

A result that was far from guaranteed and that confirms his excellent form. Moreover, as if that weren’t already enough, Mattia completed several laps with times equal to those of the very best, some even faster than riders who finished in the top 10 thanks to a better starting position.

These were his words, reported by BiciSport:

“We started a bit further back. Filippo crashed and wasn’t able to recover, while I was feeling very good and finished 13th. It’s a result I’m more than happy with because it came in a World Cup with the elites, and honestly I didn’t expect it, especially on this course, which is really tough even though there wasn’t much mud.”
