Pogačar already thinking about Paris–Roubaix

Four days after his victory at Strade Bianche, Tadej Pogačar was already back on the bike in northern France. Not to race, but to study. The Slovenian champion rode all the cobbled sectors of Paris–Roubaix together with Florian Vermeersch, a specialist of the northern classics and his teammate at UAE Team Emirates-XRG.

The second reconnaissance of the season

It is not the first time Pogačar has visited the northern cobbles this season. In December he had already done a first reconnaissance to test equipment. Yesterday’s ride was a more in-depth one, aimed at learning every corner of the route that will host the race on April 12.

The two riders covered 210 kilometers in five hours and 46 minutes, averaging 36.3 km/h. The ride passed through the Roubaix velodrome, the historic finish of the race, before ending further north in Wevelgem.

The goal is clear

Last year Pogačar made his debut at Roubaix and finished second, beaten by Mathieu van der Poel. This year the declared objective is different: to win. And the meticulous preparation — two reconnaissance rides, equipment tested in real conditions, and kilometers on the sectors — says more than any statement about how much winning this race truly means to him.
