“An organization car rear-ended me…” huge risk for Letizia Paternoster
A scare — but luckily no serious consequences — for Letizia Paternoster at yesterday’s Italian championship
Yesterday, the Italian women’s road race championship took place, with the usual winner Elisa Longo Borghini taking the title. However, it seems the race wasn’t without issues. Letizia Paternoster reported being rear-ended during the race, on a descent, by an organization vehicle.
Luckily, she didn’t crash and came out unscathed — it could have ended much worse. Only her bike suffered damage, with a broken spoke and derailleur. These were her words in an Instagram story:
“An organization car rear-ended me on a descent, breaking a spoke and the derailleur. Thank God I didn’t crash. Let’s make sure we bring competent people into races, because human lives are at risk.”
