“I want to win a stage and…” Evenepoel’s goals for the Tour

No bold proclamations from Evenepoel ahead of this Tour — or at least, that’s what his statements suggest

While all eyes are especially on the duel between Pogacar and Vingegaard — particularly after their clash at the Critérium du Dauphiné — it’s important not to forget that both Remco Evenepoel and Primoz Roglic will also be at the start line. After sharing the words of the Slovenian and the Dane ahead of the Tour, here are the Belgian’s thoughts.

The Soudal Quick-Step rider isn’t making any bold claims about the podium or the overall victory. Instead, his goals are more measured: aiming for a solid general classification result and targeting a stage win — or at least, that’s what he stated:

“It’s my second Tour de France and I’m really looking forward to the Grand Départ, which won’t be far from Belgium. I think it’s obvious that I’m aiming for a good general classification, but the most important thing will be not to lose time in the first half of the race, which should be very tense, with lots of traps and tricky roads. Just like last year, I want to win a stage and finish high in the GC, taking it one day at a time.”
