The INEOS team car hits a fan: here’s what the jury decided

One of the viral images from yesterday’s stage, perhaps even more than those of Evenepoel’s withdrawal or Arensman’s victory, was the incident involving the INEOS Grenadiers team car and a roadside fan (for those who haven’t seen the video yet, you can find it below). What happened could not go unpunished according to the race jury, which intervened by issuing a heavy fine to the DS driving the car.

Oliver Cookson received a fine of 5,000 Swiss francs and was given a warning for “improper behavior that endangered spectators”. It is not known whether he will still be allowed to drive the car in this Tour de France, and above all, nothing is known about the condition of the fan who was hit.
