Transfer Market, Ayuso: the 3 teams interested in him
The Spaniard is looking for space in the Grand Tours, and with a possible departure on the horizon, many teams are already showing interest
Juan Ayuso feels he is a champion, and for this reason, he wants to be, without a doubt, the leading rider of his team in the Grand Tours. He has made this clear for some time, and at the upcoming Vuelta, he will have the opportunity to prove he deserves that role. However, at UAE Team Emirates, with Pogacar in the picture, it’s unlikely he’ll get that chance at the Tour de France, which is why the Spaniard is reportedly considering a move to another team.
This rumor has been circulating for a while, and the appointment of Giovanni Lombardi as his new agent is being interpreted by the media as an attempt to find a way to break free from the Emirati team. The problem? UAE doesn’t want to let him go, and his contract reportedly includes a release clause valued at €100 million—an amount far too high for any team.

If something were to change, however, three teams would be ready to do whatever it takes to welcome him and help him fulfill his GC ambitions. According to Het Laatste Nieuws, those teams would be Movistar, XDS-Astana, and Ineos Grenadiers. All three have struggled in recent years to match their past Grand Tour success and are now searching for the right rider to return to prominence at the Tour, Giro, and Vuelta.
Ineos Grenadiers might even be willing to pay several million euros for him, as they did to retain Carlos Rodriguez (we previously covered the massive fee involved there). Astana, if it remains in the WorldTour, could potentially make a move if sponsor XDS decides to invest. Movistar, however, would likely struggle to match the financial firepower of the other two.
