Here’s where, when, and against whom Mattia Gaffuri will make his debut with Team Polti VisitMalta

After the many sacrifices of recent years, Mattia Gaffuri will make his debut tomorrow as a trainee for Team Polti VisitMalta following the excellent season he has had so far. His fifth place at the Italian Championships and the Italian gravel title, along with strong results in other gravel races and at the Oberösterreich Rundfahrt (for example), earned him this opportunity among the professionals.

The former (?) Swatt Club rider will debut at the GP Kranj in Slovenia together with Andrea Pietrobon, Davide De Cassan, Pablo Garcia, German Gomez, Javier Serrano, Samuele Zoccarato, with Giovanni Ellena as sports director. Also at the start will be Henrique Avancini, world marathon mountain bike champion a few years ago, Fabio Felline with MBH Bank Ballan CSB (CT), the academies of Israel-Premier Tech and Bahrain-Victorious, as well as Team Solution Tech – Vini Fantini (PRT).

This is how the team press release introduced Mattia Gaffuri:

“World champion among amateur cyclists and twice a finalist in the Zwift Academy, but also co-host of the Ciclismo KOMpetente podcast and a coach, the 26-year-old from Como (Erba) this year finished 5th in the Italian road championships before going on to win the Pessano-Roncola and the Italian Gravel Championships. Having succeeded Zoccarato in the roll of honor, the ProTeam of Ivan Basso and the Contador brothers will keep the tricolore jersey of this particular specialty in-house for the entire 2025 season.”
