From Spain: Juan Ayuso is “very close” to leaving UAE Team Emirates
New rumors about the future of the young Spanish star, who seems increasingly distant from his current team
Juan Ayuso’s future seems to be set, or at least that’s what they believe in Spain. More precisely, it was reported by the Spanish sports daily AS, in an article written by Dani Miranda, according to which the Spaniard is very close to leaving the Emirati team at the end of this season.
As we mentioned in a previous article, Lidl-Trek—also according to AS—is the main option for the future of the 2002-born rider, who just yesterday claimed a stage victory at the Vuelta a España. The American team would thus have a true GC contender to aim for a Grand Tour victory, an achievement that has (on paper) never been within reach until now.
In recent weeks, Movistar and Ineos Grenadiers were also mentioned, although they appear to be less likely at the moment, and it still isn’t clear how Ayuso might free himself from a contract that, in theory, binds him to UAE Emirates until 2028.
In recent days, Ayuso removed all references to his team from his Instagram bio and profile picture. A gesture that could mean everything or nothing, but which is certainly unusual for a rider currently competing in one of the Grand Tours with his team.
