When will we see Van der Poel, Van Aert, and Pidcock race in cyclocross?
The possible winter schedule for the three multi-discipline champions
Road races have now concluded and the cyclocross season has already begun, even if the World Cup hasn’t started yet. So let’s take a look at when — and if — we might see van der Poel, Van Aert, and Pidcock return to cyclocross racing this season.
The dates were reconstructed by the website cyclingnews.com, with the Belgian champion potentially being the first to make his season debut in the early days of December, possibly expanding his cyclocross race program compared to previous seasons (last year he appeared in only six events).
Mathieu van der Poel’s schedule is still to be decided, as he first wants to see the World Cup calendar, which is expected to be presented at the end of the month. His seasonal debut could take place, as in recent years, around mid-December.
A different situation for Tom Pidcock, fresh off a strong podium finish at the Vuelta a España. The Briton is expected to skip the entire cyclocross season to better prepare for the Grand Tours and the early-season classics, which have always been his main goals.
