Tadej Pogacar has spoken again about the season that just ended, addressing some possible goals for 2026, his rivalry with Vingegaard, and a potential participation in the Vuelta — the only Grand Tour missing from his palmarès.

These were his words to Marca, on the sidelines of the MyWhoosh Esports World Championships in Abu Dhabi:

A GRADE FOR THE SEASON“A 9 out of 10 season, but there is always room to improve in every aspect of your life. I think I can improve in several areas, both inside and outside of cycling. There were so many beautiful moments. A lot of victories with different teammates, in different teams, with the national team, at the Worlds and Europeans, at the Tour de France, in the Classics. Every race has a different story and different emotions, so I can’t pick a favourite”.

ON 2026“I think I’ll go back to the Tour again, it’s quite obvious: it’s the biggest race of all. I also want to do well in the Classics, to see if I can improve in one-day races compared to this year. Milan–Sanremo and Paris–Roubaix are two races I’m really motivated to try again and fight for the win.”

ON THE VUELTA“I’m not obsessed. I want to go to the Vuelta and of course I’d also like to win it, but if my career ended today, I’d still be happy.”

HIS RIVALRY WITH VINGEGAARD“Everyone wants to face the best possible rivals — it’s true in cycling and in any other sport. I always want to face competitors in their best shape at the Tour or any other race. If some don’t participate or have bad luck, the atmosphere is not the same and you don’t experience it in the same way. Over the past four years, Jonas has pushed me to another level at the Tour, we motivate each other every year and that’s why his presence is necessary.”
