Vingegaard crashes during training while trying to drop a fan

Yesterday, rumors spread about a crash involving Vingegaard during training, and today the team confirmed it by issuing a message to the fans, given what happened.

According to the first reconstructions, Jonas reportedly crashed while trying to drop a fan on a descent, after the fan had been riding a bit too close to him and was bothering him. The result? The Dane crashed on the descent and was seen near a guardrail with a bloodied face and, understandably, upset about what had happened.

“Jonas Vingegaard crashed during training on Monday. Fortunately, he is fine and did not sustain any serious injuries. In general, as a team we would like to urge fans on bikes to always put safety first. For your own well-being and that of others, we kindly ask you to allow cyclists to train and to give them as much space and peace as possible.”
