Mathieu Van der Poel’s race schedule: when he makes his debut and which races he will compete in
Mathieu Van der Poel’s race schedule will already begin this weekend, precisely in Belgium at the Omloop Nieuwsblad. The Dutchman will thus kick off a 2026 season that looks set to be packed with commitments, including several races in Italy this spring.
Van der Poel will unfortunately not line up at Strade Bianche, which he won a few years ago, but after opening his season in Belgium he will race Tirreno-Adriatico to prepare for Milano-Sanremo, where he will try to defend his 2025 victory.

Then the cobbled classics season will begin for the Dutchman with E3 Saxo Classic and In Flanders Fields on the schedule ahead of the Tour of Flanders, where he will attempt to return to winning ways after several years without victory. After that, as has now become tradition, it will be time for Paris-Roubaix, where he will have to fend off the ambitions of Mads Pedersen, Tadej Pogacar and Filippo Ganna, just to name a few.
As for the rest of his program, we will have to wait a bit longer, although it is easy to imagine his participation in the Tour de France and then at the World Championships in Canada at the end of the year, where he could be one of the favorites.
