Change of plans for Vingegaard: he brings forward his debut – here’s when and where

In theory, Jonas Vingegaard was supposed to start at the UAE Tour, but the much-discussed training crash changed his plans and led him to decide not to race so early.

His debut had therefore been postponed to the Volta a Catalunya, which had already been scheduled for months. However, today the Dane announced that he will return to racing earlier than expected by lining up at Paris–Nice, which will start on March 8.

After all, Vingegaard has unfinished business with this race, which he has not only never won but which, in fact, owes him something. A year ago, his plans changed due to a crash during the French race that caused him a concussion—yet he still finished the stage (with 84 km remaining).

Here are the Dane’s words: “I am excited to be back at the start of Paris–Nice. It’s a prestigious race with a long history. As a team, we have a title to defend here. After the crash and the illness, I took the necessary time to recover. Now I feel ready to start racing again and I’m looking forward to it after a long winter of training.”
