Chi è Paul Seixas

Paul Seixas has paused contract renewal talks with Decathlon CMA CGM. A move by his entourage that has opened the door to numerous speculations about the future of the 19-year-old French rider, with UAE Team Emirates XRG indicated as the main interested team.

The context: contract expiring in 2027

Seixas is tied to Decathlon CMA CGM until the end of 2027. UAE, the team of Tadej Pogacar, has reportedly already initiated contacts to secure the rider for the next cycle, seeing him as a possible natural heir to the Slovenian champion.

Decathlon’s response

Team manager Dominique Serieys did not appear concerned. “Honestly, I’m confident,” he told Daniel Benson. “If Paul doesn’t want to stay, that’s his decision. That’s why I’m confident. But if he believes in our project, then we will continue together.”

Serieys also clarified the team’s long-term ambitions: “We are thinking about a long-term contract. Our vision goes beyond 2030, toward 2035, and not many teams can offer that.”

Negotiations have reportedly been suspended until after the spring classics. Decathlon’s goal would be to close a new agreement by the Tour de France, with a longer and better-paid contract than the current one. “We are not in a hurry,” Serieys added.

Competition with UAE

The French executive did not avoid the direct comparison with the Emirati team: “UAE Emirates XRG is the richest team and I have enormous respect for Mauro Gianetti, but they are not the ones who decide everything. We will be at the negotiating table.”
