Pogacar’s words after the “manita”: “I’ve been saying for seven years that…”
Tadej Pogacar has done it again. After four consecutive victories at Il Lombardia from 2021 to 2024, this year he added a fifth win with remarkable ease, just as he did at the European Championships and the World Championships. He attacked on the Passo di Ganda, as expected, and rode away without any resistance from his rivals.
Thus ends yet another incredible season for the Slovenian, who can boast five podiums in five Monuments, as well as victories at the World Championships, the European Championships, and the Tour de France — not to mention several other wins. These were his words reported by SpazioCiclismo after today’s race:
“We are all unique; we’re all made in our own way. Winning five times in a row, every time I’ve come here, makes me feel like this race is truly made for me. On the other hand, I also have a great team by my side, and we managed to win thanks to them as well. Domen Novak did an amazing job, and then Pavel Sivakov was impressive.
After that, everyone worked hard on the final climb, protecting me from behind too — it was an extraordinary effort. I’ve been saying for seven years that the season I just finished was my best ever, and I can say it again: this has been my most beautiful season!”
