Hansen supports Pogacar’s idea: “They mocked me, but obviously I didn’t…”
The topic raised the other day by Tadej Pogacar continues to spark debate, with Hansen, president of the riders’ association (the CPA), also supporting him. The Slovenian had spoken out about the dates of the Vuelta and the Giro, suggesting swapping them for reasons related to weather and more. These were his words to AS:
“It’s difficult to combine the Tour and the Vuelta. I’ve always thought that if the Giro and the Vuelta were swapped, it would be much better in terms of weather and participation in both races. Obviously, one day I’ll have to return to the Vuelta, and I’m looking forward to it.”
Adam Hansen echoed him on X:
“I’ve been saying it for years during PCC meetings. They mocked me, but obviously they’ve never ridden the Giro in cold, rainy, and snowy conditions, or the Vuelta in scorching heat. The biggest problem in cycling is exactly this: tradition is holding back the evolution of this sport.”
It remains to be seen whether these opinions will simply disappear in the wind or if someone will actually take steps toward a date swap that would be nothing short of historic.
