Sensational: Onley could change teams in the coming days

Usually by December 10th, all transfer news in cycling has already been revealed, especially those concerning the most important riders. However, one story has only emerged today and could develop significantly in the coming days regarding Oscar Onley.

The Briton, fourth in the latest Tour de France, has been linked to Ineos Grenadiers for months, and today he reportedly did not show up to the training camp of his current team, Picnic PostNL. According to Daniel Benson, the Englishman was granted permission to stay home a few more days, which aligns with the strong interest shown by various teams — Ineos above all.

This is also due to the financial difficulties of the Dutch team, which led the UCI to grant them only a one–year licence instead of the usual three. For this reason, a transfer — similar to what happens in football — is becoming increasingly likely, with several wealthy teams ready to “buy Onley’s contract”, a situation we are seeing more and more often in cycling.
