Shocking: a major absence could pave the way for Pogacar to win Milan–San Remo

There is a race that Tadej Pogacar has been trying to win for years without success, a true rarity considering his achievements. We are obviously talking about Milan–San Remo, even though, according to the rumors circulating, he might now have his best opportunity ever to finally do it.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Mathieu Van der Poel could skip the first Monument of the season to focus on the other two Monuments (Paris–Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders), which are currently the only ones on his spring schedule, again according to the Belgian outlet.

If that were the case, Alpecin–Premier Tech would go all in on Jasper Philipsen, who already managed to win this race in 2024, albeit thanks to Van der Poel’s great sacrifice. There is still no certainty about this rumor that is circulating; we’ll see when the team and/or the Dutch rider announce his calendar.
